Miden has spent seven years on this problem, first at Meta and then at Polygon, building cryptography that lets people transact privately and provably at scale. Bread is where that work turns into a product you can hold. For us, it's a milestone, the moment the research becomes something anyone can download, open, and use before breakfast.

Practical privacy, made simple

Underneath Bread sits a deep technical stack. Zero-knowledge proofs are generated on your own device, your account state lives there with you, and the chain sees only a commitment, a cryptographic fingerprint that reveals nothing about your balances or history to other users. Bread's job is to abstract all of that. The complexity lives inside the product, and what reaches you is a wallet that feels like an everyday financial experience. 

Why “Bread”? Because bread means money. Bread is something most of us touch every day. And because “sliced bread” is a byword for innovation: radically simple, useful, dependable.

What Bread does

Bread is a private crypto wallet for all your DeFi actions. Sending is the simplest place to start. Choose a recipient, enter an amount, confirm. The transfer settles on Miden and the details stay between the two of you. Receiving works the way you'd expect, swapping happens from the same screen, and there's a route to earning on your balance while you hold it (coming soon). USDCx on Miden, the network's native USDC-backed stablecoin, will be available from day one on Miden mainnet, so you have a stable unit to transact in while you explore. 

Crosschain actions are on the way. Once Miden mainnet is live, you won't need to think about whether a transaction stays on Miden or heads to Ethereum. Bread reads the destination and handles the right path in the background. One wallet, one flow, and the routing stays out of sight.

A word on the current scope. Until later this year, Bread runs on test networks, so no real money is at stake. That makes this the right moment to kick the tires, move test funds around, and tell us what could be improved.

Milestone towards mainnet‍‍

Blockchains are infrastructure, and infrastructure earns its keep when someone builds a usable application on top of it. Bread is Miden's first broad consumer product. It's a v0 Beta, and we're calling it that deliberately, because the point right now is to prove one idea in public: private crypto can feel normal to use. Every wallet release from here builds on this base, and the next big step on the road is mainnet. When it opens, Bread will be standing at the door.
